Councillor Graham Johnson

Greetings. I am an elected Liberal Democrat parish councillor in the Beverley Minster South Ward in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

I am a person of moderate views and toleration and I represent this broad outlook on Beverley Town Council.

I want to see a compassionate society where people are responsible, entrepreneurial, hard-working and respectful of others.

I have lived in Beverley in the East Riding for over 20 years, and for much of my life within 15 miles of the River Humber. I work in the tech industry as a software developer and designer.

In Beverley I believe that our issues are:

  • Shortage of affordable housing
  • Too much inappropriate property development which overrides local planning
  • Our local education services are good but we need to fight for better budgets from the central government
  • Though more housing is being built around the East Riding there appears to be little development of leisure, transport and health facilities to support the ever increasing number of residents
  • Shortage of GP surgeries with places for patients
  • Virtually no NHS dentists

Wherever possible, as a parish councillor, I try to make a difference on the issues above.

Specifically as a Beverley Town Councillor I have supported and helped to oversee recent events in the cultural and civic life of the town.
